A Slice of St. Louis History

The Coronado is not just a venue; it's a landmark that has witnessed nearly a century of St. Louis history. Constructed in stages from 1923 to 1929 and officially opened in 1925, this historic hotel has undergone remarkable transformations. Although it closed in 1964 and remained vacant for about 15 years, a $40 million restoration project in 2001 breathed new life into the building. This extensive restoration included clearing rubble, rebuilding the roof, and uncovering and refinishing the original terrazzo floors. The ballroom's iconic 45 art deco up-lights were also repaired, restoring the space to its former grandeur.

Modern Elegance Meets Historic Charm

In early 2015, The Coronado underwent an additional $300,000 refresh, enhancing its Grand Lobby, East Lounge, Bradshaw Room, South Ballroom, and Grand Ballroom. Today, the venue is bright, elegant, and extraordinary, appealing to both classic and modern tastes. With its timeless architecture and contemporary updates, The Coronado remains a St. Louis icon and a must-see destination.

Versatile Spaces for Your Dream Wedding

The Coronado offers nearly 19,000 square feet of event space across five distinct rooms, each providing unique features to suit various aspects of your wedding celebration.

  • Grand Ballroom: Originally built for a celebration of Charles Lindbergh’s return (how cool is that!?!), this nearly 6,000-square-foot ballroom features the original terrazzo floor with 45 art deco up-lights and state-of-the-art LED lighting. The Grand Ballroom is perfect for an unforgettable wedding reception, and is one of our favorite locations to add wedding florals as the sky is the limit here!

  • South Ballroom: With crystal chandeliers, rich hardwood floors, and a warm white color palette, the South Ballroom is ideal for your entertainment and dance floor, creative food stations, or even your ceremony.

  • Grand Lobby: Boasting original hand-painted ceilings, a fireplace, new hardwood flooring, eclectic furnishings, and a baby grand piano, the Grand Lobby offers a timeless yet striking ambiance for your guests to enjoy.

  • East Lounge: Adjacent to the Grand Lobby, this space is perfect for cocktail hour with its floor-to-ceiling windows, permanent contemporary bar, and wrought iron gates. The lively and airy atmosphere creates a lasting impression. It’s also your guests’ first taste of a fun night ahead so don’t forget to add flowers to this space as well. For instance, a statement floral seating chart, bar flowers, or a statement floral piece worked into the wrought iron gates.

  • Bradshaw Room: Just off the South Ballroom, the Bradshaw Room is perfect for additional bar setups, a photo booth, or an after-dinner lounge. With its funky harlequin floor pattern and glitzy chandeliers, it adds a touch of whimsy to your wedding. When it comes to a photo booth, don’t forget that we can make a floral wall or incorporate some amazing florals into your lounge groupings for large group photos.
