A reception for 250 guests typically requires significantly more guest tables, centerpieces, floral arrangements, candles, linens, place settings and other decorative elements than an intimate celebration with 75 guests. More guests often means a larger venue footprint as well, with additional cocktail tables, lounge areas, bars, escort card or welcome displays, and other gathering spaces.
Many couples choose to enhance these areas with flowers, candles, or other decorative accents to create a cohesive design throughout the event. While each individual addition may seem small, together they can have a meaningful impact on your overall floral investment.
Wedding Party Size:
Every bridesmaid bouquet, boutonniere, corsage and flower crown adds to your overall investment.
Having all the people you love by your side is part of what makes a wedding celebration memorable; however, if you want flowers for each one of those lovely people it is going to affect your floral proposal and the bottom line.

The overall aesthetic you’re hoping to achieve plays a major role in pricing.
Minimal, modern arrangements generally require fewer blooms and less labor than lush, garden-inspired designs overflowing with texture, movement, and premium flowers.
However, many modern arrangements feature premium blooms that may require more labor intensive processing and storage- I’m looking at you orchids (more details on that to come).
Pinterest and Instagram are wonderful sources of inspiration, but remember that many of the breathtaking weddings you save feature thousands of stems and countless hours of design and installation behind the scenes.
Not All Flowers Cost the Same:
Just like diamonds, not all flowers carry the same price tag.
Premium flowers like peonies, garden roses, orchids, calla lilies, ranunculus, anthuriums, dahlias, amaranthus, specialty tulips, and several other blooms often cost considerably more than standard varieties.
One of the best ways to maximize your floral budget is by allowing your florist to feature premium blooms in the areas where they’ll make the biggest impact—such as your bridal bouquet, ceremony backdrop, sweetheart table, or statement installations—while incorporating complementary flowers throughout the rest of the design.

Many couples assume that replacing flowers with greenery automatically saves money, but today’s popular garden-inspired designs often rely on premium foliage such as Italian Ruscus, Smilax, jasmine vine, olive branches, or specialty eucalyptus. Many of these greens are seasonal meaning they are also subject to the same supply and demand factors as flowers.
These installations require extensive labor and large quantities of product, meaning “greenery only” doesn’t always equal a lower price.
