2019 Color of the Year: Living Coral

By Kimberly Wallner

It’s that time of year again… Pantone has announced their 2019 Color of the Year: Living Coral! Pantone.com describes their newest selection as “…Sociable and spirited, the engaging nature of PANTONE Living Coral welcomes and encourages lighthearted activity. Symbolizing our innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits, Living Coral embodies our desire for playful expression.”

A warm, playful hue, we’ve seen coral making its way into more and more wedding color palettes over recent years. Perfect for the fun-loving couple, we often see coral paired with other bright, summery shades. However, coral also works well with cooler tones like blues and greens. A popular choice among our brides this past year was to pair pale blue bridesmaids’ dresses with coral flowers, which makes for a fresh, summery look!

Looking for a more dramatic look? Coral also perfectly pairs with bolder choices like black, navy, or even hunter green, which we often see incorporated into more formal weddings. Regardless of how you chose to use it, coral will add a bright, cheery element to your wedding day color palette. For being such a bright color, it really is quite diverse and we look forward to seeing how couples incorporate this fun hue into their weddings in the coming year!
