An Ethereal Summer Wedding at The Caramel Room

Light, airy, ethereal. These are all words that came to mind as I was pulling photos for today’s gorgeous feature wedding! Bride Katie was an Event Manager at The Caramel Room before moving to Chicago, so when she and Sean got engaged and began planning their own Caramel Room wedding, we were thrilled that she trusted us with her vision. It’s always such an honor to design for a fellow wedding vendor!

When it came time to discuss her wedding flowers, Katie described her vision to Lisa as “florals that looked as if they could’ve sprouted out of the ground that day.” She wanted to keep the feeling of the day light, airy, and simple, with pops of color and lots of greenery. The resulting design was just that: ethereal and effortless!

Isn’t Katie’s Blush by Hayley Paige gown gorgeous?! It sets the perfect tone for the day.

Prior to the afternoon ceremony, Katie and her dad took a vintage Rolls Royce to the Four Seasons for a drink and some quality time, and I just love this idea!! Such a sweet way to carve out some time to spend with her dad before the day really got underway. Brides with afternoon wedding ceremonies and no first look, take note!

Meanwhile, Sean and his groomsmen were getting ready at the Missouri Athletic Club downtown.

The ceremony took place at the iconic St. Francis Xavier College Church. They recently opened this bridal room upstairs, and the windows make for the most stunning photos.

These bouquets were so fun!! I love the compliment between Katie’s bold coral bouquet and the greenery the bridesmaids carried, and the textures are such a lovely juxtaposition to the soft gowns. Such a perfect look for a summer wedding!

To achieve a simple, effortless feel for the reception at The Caramel Room, Lisa and Katie selected a mix of centerpiece styles that incorporated lots of candles and greenery. Gold candelabras wrapped in eucalyptus garlands provided height to the room, and garlands were also used on the long guest tables, accompanied by brass candlesticks. A third table scape featured floating candles, pops of coral peonies, and loose greenery meant to look as if it had just sprouted from the table (this actually took me ages to perfect, ironically). Neutral linens complemented the tones of the ballroom, and the overall look was light and airy.

Katie & Sean’s wedding day happened to fall on the same day as the Blues Stanley Cup parade, so of course there were some Blues tributes mix into the festivities! (I’m pretty sure most of the weddings in St. Louis last summer played Gloria at least once during the reception!) Katie’s whole family are huge Blues fans (as are Lisa and I) and the joke in the week leading up to the wedding was that they needed to push it off by a day so we could all go to the parade!

Katie & Sean, it was such an honor to be a part of your day, even if we had to miss the parade ;) Thank you for bringing us onto your vendor team and letting us help bring your wedding vision to life!!
