A Modern, Romantic Wedding at the Four Seasons

March 8th, 2017

Posted by Kimberly Wallner

The best part of our job, hands down, is bringing our clients’ visions to life. Couples come to us with all sorts of ideas, and it’s our job to take those ideas and inspiration photos and turn them into reality. In the case of Sarah and Dennis’ wedding, it started with an acrylic chuppah Sarah saw as a wedding guest, and lead to her vision of a romantic, modern affair.

The difficult part was that no one in St. Louis owned an acrylic chuppah, which meant having one custom built. We have had acrylic pieces made for events in the past, but never anything as large or involved as this. We presented the idea to our “acrylic guy” along with sketches and examples we had seen from companies in other cities, and luckily his team was ready for the challenge! After consulting a structural engineer and adjusting the initial idea, they were able to bring the design to life.

On wedding day Lisa and I were a ball of stress, as we generally are when we do something new, but seeing everything come together was better than any of us could have imagined. For a see-through structure, the chuppah had a commanding presence in the ballroom, and it was so fun to see how excited Sarah was to see her vision come to life! The ceremony and reception were a beautiful combination of modern and classic elements, with soft pink tones, classic floral and modern acrylic elements. It was a beautiful day for a wonderful couple and we were so thrilled to be a part of it!

Something Unexpected: Sydney & Matt’s Enchanted Wedding

January 5th, 2017

Posted by Kimberly Wallner

Sydney and Matt had one of our most unique weddings of 2016, in the best possible way. When our dear friend Simcha brought Sydney and her mom Caryn in to talk with us, they had a ton of unique ideas and a very clear vision of what they were looking for. We always enjoy getting to design a bit out of our “box”, and this wedding definitely let us get creative. Through several planning sessions we were able to collaborate on the vision Caryn and Sydney had, and really bring everything to life for this Meadowbrook Country Club wedding.

For the patio ceremony, they envisioned lots of bold color and a winding aisle leading to the chuppah. To achieve the desired look, we covered the aisle in 60,000 hot pink, orange and yellow rose petals. It was so dramatic! The chuppah was carried in and placed under a huge tree decked out in hanging ribbons, flowers and Capiz shells, which tied the bright colors of the aisle into the ceremony backdrop and evoked the feeling of wind chimes hanging from the tree. The end result was a stunning burst of color and a festive atmosphere that perfectly reflected Sydney and Matt’s fun-loving relationship.

Following the ceremony, guests moved inside to a softer, but no less unique look. Our goal in the ballroom was to create an enchanted, midsummer’s night dream atmosphere with lots of greenery and mixed metals. Caryn didn’t want the centerpieces to be floral heavy, so instead we created trees and terrariums! These were mixed with lanterns, small floral arrangements, and lots and lots of candles. Simcha combined round and long tables, which allowed us to mix elements and enhance the overall eclectic look of the room. I love the photos Mike captured of Sydney and Caryn taking in the space for the first time. When you get pictures like these, you know you nailed it!

It was such a pleasure to work with Caryn, Sydney, Matt, and Simcha to bring this amazing vision to life!

2017 Color of the Year: Greenery

December 9th, 2016

Posted by Kimberly Wallner

A much-anticipated event for design and wedding professionals alike is the announcement of the 2017 Pantone Color of the Year. As an art major turned wedding professional I tend to geek out just a bit at the announcement, and 2017’s color has me particularly excited: Greenery!

Pantone.com says “Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.”

For weddings, the official Greenery shade might be a bit bright for many brides’ taste, but that’s ok! Use the Pantone shade as a jumping off point to incorporate various shades of green into your wedding. Remember that green is “nature’s neutral” and know that various shades can work well in all sorts of wedding palettes, from bright and bold to neutral.

As the organic-style wedding trend becomes more and more popular in the Midwest, we are continually seeing more brides incorporate greenery into their weddings though things like garden style bouquets and garlands. Yet, there does seem to be a myth that greenery is a cheaper alternative to flowers. While it is generally not as expensive as many blooms, when used in large quantities greens do add up, and like flowers, not all varieties are available all year. Be open to suggestions from your florist and know that regardless of how you select to incorporate Greenery, it will be a fresh addition to your wedding décor!

A Sparkling Winter Wedding at the Peabody

February 12th, 2016

Posted by Kimberly Wallner

It’s hard to believe Catherine and Will’s wedding was almost a year ago! While they didn’t quite have a Valentine’s Day wedding (they tied the knot on February 28th), their day was so romantic that it seemed perfect to showcase this time of year. We had so much fun designing this day with Catherine and her mom Nancy, who also happens to be one of our favorite planners. We were thrilled to not only design all the stunning floral elements, but to also bring in our sister company, Table Ten, for the seating areas around the dance floor, chargers and linens. Catherine chose a palette of ivory and gold with lots of sparkle thrown in, and requested we incorporate soft blush tones with the floral. Such a classic choice for a romantic, black-tie winter wedding!

So much thought was put into every element of this wedding day, which really comes though in the stunning photos by MNC Photography. The day was truly a celebration of Catherine and Will as a couple, and reflected their personalities and love for each other. From the thoughtful and love-filled ceremony at Memorial Presbyterian to the stunning reception at The Peabody Opera House (and snow flurries in between!) everything came together in the most perfect way.

Our favorite element of the day (and there are SO many beautiful details) is hands-down the draping canopy of hydrangea, roses, tulips, stock, carnations, amaranths, seeded eucalyptus and greenery that ran the length of the 32-foot long head table. Our lead designer created much of this massive piece on-site to get the right effect. This piece, coupled with glittering candles and soft flowers on the guest tables, created a dramatic and elegant reception space for Catherine and Will to dance the night away with their guests.

Happy {almost} Anniversary Catherine and Will, and thank you for letting us be a part of your wedding!

Classic Spring Wedding: Blush and Navy

October 27th, 2015

Posted by Kimberly Wallner

Kristen and Derek’s wedding this past May was classically spring, from the blush and navy pallet to the rain the morning of the wedding. But a little rain never stopped an amazing wedding, as you can tell from these GORGEOUS photos from the ever-talented team at Switzerfilm. Every inch of this wedding was perfection; sequin bridesmaids dresses, dapper guys in navy suits, the most adorable bride, and amazing spring flowers, all set to the backdrop of the Old Cathedral and Crystal Ballroom.

The Crystal Ballroom is one of our favorite venues and we work in it often, so we are always looking for new ideas to make each of our weddings unique. For Kristen and Derek’s, we collaborated with Tiffany and Amanda at Events Luxe to design and have custom Lucite stands built for the tall centerpieces. These leant an airy quality to the room that was both modern and classic. The reception flowers mimicked the bouquets with hydrangea and roses, but with the addition of beautiful draping white Orchids for an added wow factor.

Kristen loves sparkle, so Tiffany and Amanda set out to create tablescapes with a mixed-metallic theme using touches of rose gold, silver and lots of draping crystals. Table 10 Event Design provided the amazing silver chargers, and we love the napkin treatment of the Kate Spade inspired bow detail, which can be found throughout the day.

Thanks again to Switzerfilm for capturing the day and sharing with us!

Purple Prose: Amethyst, Violet, Iris, Orchid, and Lilac for K+R!

August 18th, 2015

Posted by Laura Katherine Smith

Purple has traditionally been known as the color of royalty, and what better way to celebrate a gem of a wedding in a regal venue in St. Louis like the Renaissance Crystal Ballroom. We had the pleasure of working with Kathryn and her family on creating the perfect day for her and Roko’s nuptials this summer. We started out focusing on champagnes and purple tones, quickly realizing we needed to identify the perfect summer hue and accents while keeping it classic and refined for their reception.

A few lovely meetings later we were all welcoming the idea of soft lilacs and iris tones, knowing these would help soften up the purple palette and make for an elegant evening. Table 10 Event Design provided the backdrop of purple washed walls throughout the ballroom to enhance its dramatic original white columns. St. Louis Wedding Consultants brought that extra touch of making the evening flow seamlessly and end perfectly!

And with the masterful doing of Kelly Park Photography, it all was captured beautifully!

Featured Wedding – Amy & Drew

August 22nd, 2014

Posted by Lisa Molitor

I loved this couple since the moment we Skyped for our consultation.  Amy and Drew live in Texas and this was a great way to meet Amy “in person” to talk about flowers.  From the beginning, we really hit it off and had many a conversation that lasted forever because we were gabbing about all of her wedding planning.  Her mom, Debbie, was just as amazing.  We got to work together trying to figure out which linens Amy would like for the reception.  Finally, meeting Drew at a linen meeting (I’m sure he was thrilled to be there!), I could see that they made a lovely couple. I didn’t want the wedding day to come because then working with them would be over…they would be out of my life forever (*sigh*).  Thank goodness for Facebook.

Here are a few of my favorite moments from Amy & Drew’s wedding.  Special thanks to another of my favorite people…Liz Sloan from L Photographie for taking some lovely photos as always and so glad that you referred me!

A Hindu / Christian Wedding Celebration

July 5th, 2014

Posted by Lisa Molitor

This beautiful day of combined ceremonies and receptions were a mix of Hindu and Christian ideas and it was a day that was quite a whirlwind.  The morning began with the Hindu Wedding Ceremony and then a cultural luncheon on the stage of the Peabody.  It was very dramatic with the rich tones of red and gold. The afternoon shifted into a new color palette and a new ceremony / reception.  The design went from warm and rich, to cool and extravagant with shades of purple, lavenders and whites complemented by silver and crystal to add some shine. This was a truly exhausting day for the team at Belli Fiori but so much fun and some amazing designs!

Here is a list of the fabulous vendors that made the day run so smooth:

And the 2014 Pantone Color of the Year is…

January 22nd, 2014

Radiant Orchid!

Whether you love it or hate it, it is here.  I’ve heard people gasp, “Oh my, it’s the color of Barney” or other people who have embraced it.

Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute® had this to say, “While the 2013 color of the year, PANTONE 17-5641 Emerald, served as a symbol of growth, renewal and prosperity, Radiant Orchid reaches across the color wheel to intrigue the eye and spark the imagination.  An invitation to innovation, Radiant Orchid encourages expanded creativity and originality, which is increasingly valued in today’s society.  An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.”

Purple tones have been a huge trend in weddings for the past few years, especially in 2010 – 2011.  But this orchid color is definitely different – it’s not eggplant, it’s not regal purple and it’s not lavender.  It is a very warm tone of purple that will bring freshness to the color palette for spring.  I think this color plays well with the warm blush tones that are so popular right now because of the pink undertones.  This color would fit in well with the vintage palettes currently in vogue.

Be Ready to embrace the orchid palette, I think this one will be around for a while!
