A Jewel Tone Winter Wedding at St. Louis Union Station

Today’s real wedding is full of warm jewel tones and textural floral arrangements featuring an abundance of red and pink roses, making it the perfect feature for Valentine’s Day week! Carter & Noam chose the iconic St. Louis Union Station Grand Hall as the setting for their wedding ceremony and reception, and requested floral elements full of color and texture. Carter’s color palette included burgundy, blush, and pops of pink; perfect for a February wedding!

While the overall feel of the day was formal, with bridesmaids in long black dresses and groomsmen in black tuxedos, the colorful flowers provided a playfulness and warmth to the chilly February day.

Carter’s modified cascade bouquet featured gorgeous burgundy peonies, ranunculus and mini calla lilies, with pops of fuchsia stock and blush spray roses. In contrast, the bridesmaids bouquets featured more blush tones, with pops of deep red and fuchsia that popped against their black gowns.

The couple took a spin on the newly opened St. Louis Wheel before the ceremony!

Carter & Noam said their vows under a dramatic gold chuppah adorned with jewel toned flowers and greenery. This chuppah probably would have felt like “too much” in a less opulent venue, but against the backdrop of the Grand Hall’s stained glass and intricate architectural details it fit right in!

Does it get any more stunning than this?!

While guests enjoyed cocktail hour downstairs, the vendor team transformed the room from ceremony to reception. Because the Grand Hall is such a large, soaring space, we incorporated height into each of the three centerpiece designs. The first design featured tall floral arrangements dripping with red amaranthus; the second was a silver candelabra with textural floral around the base; the third combined mercury glass lanterns and tall candleholders with burgundy pillar candles. The use of mixed metals complimented the ornate space and provided a richness to the centerpiece designs, while glowing candlelight created a warm, intimate feel despite the size of the hall.

Repurposing ceremony flowers isn’t always an option depending on the logistics of a wedding, but since the ceremony and reception both took place in the Grand Hall we were able to transform the chuppah flowers into a lush head table arrangement!

The Grand Hall architecture features a lot of cool green tones, so the warm reds and pinks of the flowers were the perfect compliment. I also love the way the textures of the flowers play into the opulent feel of the room. No matter how many weddings we do at Union Station, the sense of awe I get walking into this gorgeous space never seems to fade!
